Guar gum powder is a hydrophilic and heat-stable polysaccharide. To increase oil and gas production, guar gum is widely used in oil well drilling.
Cultivation of guar plant started in India for the first time and then the high resistance of this plant in harsh weather conditions caused a large amount of land in Texas and Oklahoma to be cultivated for commercial exploitation of this plant since 1903.
Guar gum causes a better colloid to be created in the well drilling mud. As a result, water loss is reduced and mud solution viscosity is adjusted and drilling mud flow properties are stabilized and adjusted. Also, guar gum is used in hydraulic fracturing process in crude oil production and oil well sealing.
