Calcium stearate is a micronized and hydrophobic white powder that is in the family of calcium soaps. This widely used industrial substance is obtained from the reaction of fatty acids with a combination of calcium metal. It is produced from the thermal reaction between stearic acid and calcium oxide. Also, this chemical is a food additive with the trade name E470. The solubility of this substance in water is very low.
