Fuel additives are fuel-soluble compounds that affect many of the fuel’s properties. One of the most important additives is antifreeze or Anti-icing. Anti-icings are fluids that are composed of a base fluid called diethylene glycol and other additives such as alkyl ether compounds. Using antifreeze is the best solution to deal with winter conditions in oil stations. Low temperature and sea water spraying on the platforms and as a result the formation of ice threatens the safety of personnel and operations. Anti-icing is also known as FSII (Fuel System Icing Inhibitor).
