Urea is a nitrogenous compound that contains a carbonyl group attached to two amine groups. Urea is produced from the reaction of ammonia and carbon dioxide in solid form. This solid substance is soluble in water and is neither acidic nor alkaline. Urea is also known as carbamide. Urea is used as a source of nitrogen in fertilizers and is an important raw material for agricultural industries. Iran is one of the largest exporters of urea in the world.
