Dimyristyl peroxydicarbonate, which is also known by the brand name PEROXAN C126 or Perkadox 26, is an initiator (catalyst) for suspension or bulk polymerization (copolymerization) of vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride or methacrylate. In many cases PEROXAN C126 is combined with another active initiator such as DLP to increase the efficiency of the PVC production reactor. PEROXAN C126 can also be used as a curing agent for thermosetting polymers such as unsaturated polyesters and vinyl ester resins. Organic peroxides are thermally unstable substances and are decomposed by heat. This initiator is obtained from the reaction of tetradecyl chloroformite with the corresponding oxo alcohols.
